Ever so often, purchasers are unaware of the pitfalls and traps when they buy developer’s properties. When the housing project is abandoned or stalled or its workmanship is shoddy, or when the developer uses sub-standard building materials, purchasers become the innncent victims of these malpractices. Purchasers do not know what to do, who to turn to for help and are left to fend or fight for their own homes against the powerful developers.
To aggravate the situation, purchasers are often left at the mercy of recalcitrant developers who are indifferent to the purchasers’ hardships and sufferings. While purchasers are exposed to the danger of the housing project being abandoned or the developer using poor quality building material or enticing purchaser into their insidious schemes to make quick profits with no sense of accountability for quality housing, the laws and the powers that be seem indifferent to guarantee protection for the purchasers.
Why should purchasers “fight” to protect their homes and the safety of their families living in the homes? Why should purchasers be made to stand alone against rich, powerful and irresponsible developers? Those unfortunate aspirants end up being engulfed in a quagmire of financial nightmare with attending legal complications. Few are able to get out of such situations without serious financial loses.
It is indeed timely that a book of this kind is written. It highlights property purchasers’ plight, rights and risks when buying developers’ properties. It speaks up for and alongside the purchasers. It courageously reveals what purchasers ought to know and do.
It is time for property purchasers to be educated. This book aims to do that. It is truly a wonderful endeavour.
